REGENERATIVE AGRICULTURE

REGENERATIVE AGRICULTURE

At Agroassessor we use the reference techniques of regenerative agriculture and adapt them to the reality of the territory and the needs of our customers.

Regenerative agriculture is a system of work and life where ancestral techniques and knowledge are applied but with the updates that allow modern science and technology.

Holistic management and regenerative grazing

Holistic management and regenerative grazing is a planning and decision-making system that helps farmers and farmers and other land managers to better manage agricultural resources to improve environmental, economic, and social benefits sustainably.

It is based on the implementation of a directed and rational pasture to increase the fertility of the soil and to prevent the degradation of the overgrazed soils.

We evaluate the farm, as well as planning and designing the work to be carried out.

permaculture

Permaculture is an agricultural design system, based on the patterns and characteristics of nature’s ecosystems.

It takes into account specific social, environmental, and ethical values when producing sustainable systems. Diversity, self-regulation, capture, and storage of energy or use of local resources are some examples of the design principles used.

We design and manage projects based on the principles and values of permaculture.

KEYLINE DESIGN

Keyline design is a system of design and technical applications on-site that aims to make the most of rainwater and other water resources. It aims to make an optimized and maximum profitable capture, conservation, and distribution of water to regenerate the soil and that it sees increased natural depth and fertility.

We work together with the leading international figures (Darren J. Doherty -Regrarians-) to carry out the planning and design necessary for the implementation of this technique in crops.

ORGANIC FARMING

Organic farming is a system for cultivating autonomous farms based on the optimal use of natural resources, without using synthetic chemicals, or genetically modified organisms (GMOs) -neither for fertilization nor to combat pests-, thus achieving to obtain organic food while preserving the fertility of the land and respecting the environment. All this in a sustainable and balanced way.

Organic production is regulated by strict European Union regulations.

At Agroassessor, we provide advice and monitoring of agronomic practices to work with ecosystems in an integrated way; to maintain and improve soil fertility; to produce food free of chemical waste; to use the largest number of renewable and local resources; to maintain the genetic diversity of the system and its environment; to avoid pollution as a result of agricultural techniques; to allow farmers to do their work in a healthy way

We also perform and/or assist certification audits.

Edible forests

Edible forests are a balanced, sustainable, and productive food production system, which is based on biodiversity, ecosystems, and structure of layers and strata similar to those of forests, taking into account the productive seasonality, the attraction of insects, fixing carbon and nutrients, protecting wildlife, and so on. They aim to self-produce and self-supply the farm.

We carry out the selection of species, the preparation of the land, the design of the forest and we direct and coordinate the work of implantation and we carry out the monitoring of crops.

Vegetation cover

Vegetation cover

The vegetation cover consists of sowing specific species or allowing spontaneous vegetation to grow between cultivated plants to protect the soil from erosion, improve its structural stability and water balance, or control pests and diseases.

To maintain 100% of the soil, 100% covered 100% of the time, we provide guidance on how to implement or manage the vegetation cover for each crop.

Soil biochemical analysis

Different types of soil analysis are required to determine their condition and the actions to be taken to improve them. These analyses are used to know the mineral balance, mainly the balance between Ca, Mg, K, Na, P, and S, the quantity and quality of the organic matter present in the soil, as well as the degree and type of microbiology of the substrate (bacteria, fungi …).

In the framework of new agronomic projects or the recurrent management of crops, we carry out chemical, mineral, and microbiological analyses of the soil, as well as the definition of strategies for improving fertility.

HORTS BIOINTENSIUS

Biointensive gardens

The bio-intensive garden is a small-scale organic farming method that uses simple technologies and cultivation techniques, allowing for higher yields and productivity, often higher than those obtained through conventional agriculture.

We advise in the preparation of the land, the use of compost, the planting of seeds, and the rest of the principles of biointensive garden, as well as in the follow-up of the crops once these have been implanted.

Biodynamics

Biodynamics is the result of observing, understanding, and respecting the laws of nature’s functioning. Their practice generates the balance of the long-term ecosystem in the land, plants, and animals, and human behaviours.

Biodynamics, in its productive countryside, is based on phytotherapy techniques, applying preparations obtained from different plants to strengthen the crop and minimize the application of more aggressive traditional treatments.

Everything is arranged according to the biodynamic calendar based on the rhythms of the sun, moon, planets, and constellations, and the agricultural productions are organized according to the most optimal moment.

At e-Agroassessor, we apply the techniques of biodynamics; from observation to improving the farmer’s relationship with his land, connecting with it and teaching him to listen to it, together with the elaboration and use of biodynamic preparations for soil improvement directly as in the compost itself, following the guidelines of the biodynamic calendar.

BIODINÀMICA

Whether you want to transform your farm or project using these techniques, or if you want to start getting introduced to the concepts of Regenerative Agriculture, at Agroassessor we can accompany you on this path.

Do you want to know more about regenerative farming?

Francesc Font, Co-founder of Agroassessor, has published his first book, “Arrelats a la Terra”. A book that invites to reflect and to be more aware of the reality of a sector that we often underestimate, showing:

  • The reference techniques of regenerative agriculture: holistic management, permaculture, keyline design, organic agriculture.
  • The role of soil in capturing and fixing atmospheric carbon and its impact on climate change.
  • The impact of agriculture on the production of healthy and nutritious food.
  • Tips for practicing it.
  • How we can help regenerative farmers as citizens and consumers.
  • Personal reflections on the transition from conventional to regenerative agriculture.
